Early life

Bob Wronski was born in Worcester, Massachusetts to parents Edward and Isabella Wronski, who are of Polish and Swedish descent.

At the age of 28, Wronski began selling stories to Super Comics, writing for Super Comics, beginning with Super Comics#1 (November 1979). Wronski created the Karate King, an adult superhero who operated during the martial arts fad of the 1970s.  

After his Super-Bob series ended its run in Super Comics, Wronski retired from the comic book industry.

Biography:

Michael grew up the oldest of three children raised by a single mother.  Their father took off on them.  What they didn't know was that their father was a top secret government agent code named X-Man, who worked for the National Heroes.  He was last seen in Vietnam.

When Michael was 18, in 1969, one night he was witness to an alien about to shoot a strangely dressed human.  He intervened and saved the human.  It turned out that human wasn't so human.  He was Krazel, a Kookoorongian member of the Interstellar Peace Organization.  Michael's bravery in the face of encountering something extremely new to him impressed Krazel, who lobbied for the IPO to recruit Bossman, which they did.

Bossman became Krazel's partner, and the two were reassigned to the planet Hanguk.  There, Michael fell in love with a native named Min-Hee, who gave birth to his child a few years later.  They named the child Christopher.

Shortly after Chris' birth, an evil race of amazons called the Booers invaded Hanguk.  Despite the best efforts of the IPO, they could not ward off the invasion.  Michael tried to convince Min-Hee to come with him and Chris back to Earth, but she would not leave her home.  She did insist that Michael take Robert to safety.  Michael fled the warzone with his son, deserting his duties.

When he returned to Earth, to Worcester, he changed his name to Robert Kowalski as he feared the IPO tracking him down for desertion.  

Shortly after his return to Earth, Michael/Robert met Maureen Hasser.  The two quickly fell in love, and married.  Maureen adopted Chris, and Chris was raised to think Maureen was his real mother.  Neither Chris nor Maureen knew of Robert's real past or of Chris' alien heritage.

The family moved to Orange City, the better to avoid being found by moving from his home city.  In fact, Michael cut ties with his real family before he joined the IPO, and they thought he might be dead.

Six years after Hanguk invaded Booer, there were rumors abounding about a super-hero called Super Bob in Orange City.  Michael quickly surmised that his own son was Super-Bob, and upon confronting him, found out it was true.  Micheal not only didn't forbid his son's activities, but he kept his secret and operated as his partner, the Karate King.

Michael operated as the Karate King for years.  However, there were some things Chris/Super-Bob was not aware of.  When a criminal was captured, Michael stole their money and drugs for himself.  And at home, when Chris was not around, Michael was physically abusive of Maureen, something she kept from him.

In 1981, Michael tired of the secret life in Orange City, and returned to Worcester, where he began operating as an underworld figure known only as the Boss.  As the Boss, Michael quickly became a powerful underworld figure, though many of his operations were often thwarted by the vigilante called the Unknown and private detective Peter Lebane.  

While Michael was gaining a fortune in illegal funds, he began creating a "legitimate" business through those funds and by patenting technology that he had obtained during his time with the IPO.  

He became a billionaire in just a few years, running Bossman Enterprises.  While Bossman run his company, he used it to commit illegal activities of his own whim.  Bossman himself lived on the top floor of Bossman Enterprises, which was located in the center of Orange City and was the tallest building.  Bossman's apartment had a secret room that was a torture chamber where he would rape, torture, and murder women that he kidnapped.

Beginning in 1984, one of Bossman's projects was trying to get his son to work for him.  By this time, Chris has changed his alter ego name to Powerkid, and was no longer an urban legend but was now public.  

When Michael first revealed to Powerkid that he was his father, and tried to get him to join his empire, which Powerkid knew by this time may have evil motives, he flatly refused.  After that, Micheal felt he could brainwash his son using alien technology.  But to do that, he had to capture him.  Michael then went about hiring villains, some already in Powerkid's rogues gallery and some were given powers or technology by Bossman, to capture his son.  All failed.

After five years of this, Powerkid had had enough, and when he finally dug up enough damning evidence against his father, he apprehended him himself.

Michael Bossman was in prison for 18 years.  Because of his money and the fact that he was a very scary evil killer, he was able to keep control of his company from the inside, though officially a proxy ran things in his absence.  In 2007, Michael's legal team finally got his release, despite the fact her was in prison for several life sentences for murder, rape, theft, torture, kidnapping, false identity, ect.

Michael seemed to be reformed when he returned to society, and he tried to make amends with his family, which included a grandson, Connor, who he'd never met.  Chris did not easily accept his father's supposed reformation.  But the rest of the family was willing to take him at face value.

Michael resumed control of his company, and extended his good will by funding NighTforce, a team dedicated to taking down the New Power, and created a team called the Bad Guys, which consisted of reformed super-villains, like himself, all former enemies of Chris (whether when he was Super-Bob, Powerkid, or Powerman.)

However, this turned out to be all a ruse.  The Bad Guys discovered that Michael Bossman was in fact a member of the inner council of the New Power Organization, the very organization the NighTforce was dedicated to stopping.  In fact, he really funded the NighTforce to keep track of their activities, and created the Bad Guys not for the altruistic missions they were conducting, but in hopes of brainwashing them to do his bidding, which he failed to do.

Bossman went into hiding, where he plots for world domination as part of the inner circle of the New Power.  However perhaps he wasn't all bad.  As a clause that was kept secret until his evil was revealed, his company was left to his son and grandson.  However, his son too was in hiding, for different reasons, and his grandson was a minor, and so Chris' half sister became president of the company, and Connor's mother became vice-president.

Comments:

The character of Michael Bossman is inspired by my father, and his stories are a reflection of my own personal feelings during the time. 

At first, he was my hero, and then he left us, and became a villain in my mind.  As I got older and learned how he used to treat my mom, he became a monster.  Later, I came to have mixed feelings.  People tell me he's a changed man.  I'm not so sure.  And thus, Michael's reformation and relapse into evil.

I should point out that my father may have been a vain, self-absorbed, and abusive man with a pot addiction, but he wasn't the monster Michael became in the comics.  Michael was an exaggerated metaphor for my feelings, rather than a literal translation.  

In fact, if you notice for creation credits, my father co-created the original version of the character.  He came up with the idea for the Karate King as Super-Bob's partner.  

My reasons for returning him to evil are partially because of my still mixed feelings about my father, but also as part of the larger drama that creates good stories, and it fits in with my concept that the inner circle of the New Power are all evil businessmen from various past and present Super Comics series.

During the Crisis of 2008 - 2009, many super-villains were resurrected by the New Power, though in the end, the New Power was defeated.  But the many villains were free on Earth.

Michael Bossman, a former enemy of his son Chris Kowalski aka Powerman, recruited a team of Powerman's former foes, all of whom like him had reformed.  This team became a covert team secretly funded by Bossman Enterprises, travelling the world helping people in need.

Recently, the Bad Guys found that their leader, Michael Bossman, was really a member of the inner council of the New Power, and had formed the Bad Guys in a ploy to make them his mind controlled minions, a plot that failed.  Bossman went into hiding, and the team was left in a situation where they head to decide where to go now, with their formation a ruse, their leader a villain, and their funding in question.

The team decided that regardless of how they got together, the work they do is what matters, as they continue on the road to redemption.  The Trapster, who had already been the field leader, took leadership of the team.  Shortly after, their funding was resolved as Michelle Wrigley took control of Bossman Enterprises, learned of the Bad Guys, and decided to continue funding their missions.

Comments:

The Bad Guys was one of the Super Explosion titles following Crisis.  All the members were former Powerkid/Powerman rogues who had previously reformed.

Michael Bossman first appeared in Super Bob stories in 1979 as a supporting character/sidekick.  He became an enemy of the Unknown and Detective Lebane starting in 1982, then became a Powerkid foe starting in 1984.  He reformed in 2007, though as I've mentioned, it was just a ruse.

The Trapster was an enemy of Powerkid, the Unknown, Detective Lebane, and Doctor Mystery starting in 1982.  He reformed as revealed in 2008, and was given the job of head of security for Bossman Enterprises.

Karate Spears first appeared as a foe of Powerkid in 1982.  However, when Powerkid saved his home world in 1985, the villain turned over a new leaf.  This caused the people of his world to overthrow him, now that he was considered weak, and he was imprisoned for years, until 1994 when he escaped and came to Earth, operating as a super hero under the new identity of the Interstellar Ninja.  But in 2008, he (and I) realized how stupid that name was and he returned to his original one (given to him by his creator, Chuck Spears).

The Krusher first became an enemy of Powerkid and the Powerkid Police in 1984.  For years, the heroes would stop him by giving him amnesia, but eventually that stopped working.  In 2001, though, Krusher finally gained power over his power madness, and reformed.

Man-Killer was the quickest to reform.  She first became a foe of Powerkid in 1982, but a few months later, she repented and joined the Powerkid Police.  She actually died in 1990, but was resurrected by the New Power during the Crisis.

Finally, Kitten Girl first became a foe of Super Bob in 1980, later becoming a foe of the Unknown and Detective Lebane.  Eventually, she repented and joined the Powerkid Police.  She was vaporized along with all of Orange City in 1992 by a team of villains.  She was resurrected by the New Power during the Crisis as well.

The team's adventures are sort of inspired by the Suicide Squad and the A-Team.  And it's fun to write because all of these characters bring me back to my childhood.

Biography:

Between 1981 and 1984, Michael Bossman was an underworld kingpin called the Boss.  Using his illegally gotten gains, he created a company called Bossman Enterprises, in which he patented and produced new technologies that he stole from alien civilizations during his younger years as an agent of the Interstellar Peace Organization.

The technologies were just subtle enough to prove successful and groundbreaking on Earth but not advanced enough to draw the attention of the IPO.  He was so successful that by 1984 Bossman's company was now a multi-billion dollar corporation and Bossman abandoned his underworld alter-ego, though not his evil ways.

From 1984 to 1989, while publicly a booming legal company, secretly is was used by Michael Bossman to conduct any illegal thing that suited him.  This included Bossman's attempts to lure his son Chris Kowalski aka Powerkid over to the dark side, by force if necessary, and it was, though unsuccessful.

In 1989, Bossman's evil finally became public knowledge, and Powerkid apprehended him himself.  Bossman was sent away for multiple murders, kidnappings, rapes, thefts, ect.  He was away for a mere 18 years before his legal team finally got him released.

During his stay in prison, a proxy ran the company, however, Bossman still maintained real control.  His proxy dared not try to take control for real.

When Bossman was released in 2007, he seemingly reformed.  He devoted portions of his company, which he officially regained control of, to humanitarian efforts.  The company began funding NighTforce, a team dedicated to taking down the terrorist cult called the New Power.  The company also secretly funded another team called the Bad Guys, that consisted of reformed super-villains and traveled the globe on covert missions to assist people in need.  The company also later funded the revived Heroes of Earth.

About a year ago, it was revealed that Bossman had not changed his ways, and actually was a member of the inner council of the New Power.  Bossman went into hiding.  This time, perhaps due to some part of Bossman that was actually good, a clause left all of Bossman's money, assets, valuables, and the entire company to his son Chris, and his grandson Connor.  However, Connor being a minor had his mother Yana Oo named his proxy.  Chris, having killed President Bush when under mind control, was in hiding, and named his sister Michelle Wrigley as his proxy.  Thus, now Michelle Wrigley is the head of Bossman Enterprises, and Yana Oo the company's number two.

Today, Bossman Enterprises continues to thrive legally and secretly funding super-heroic operations, including ironically capturing Bossman and taking down the New Power once and for all.

Comments:

The character of Michael Bossman has gone through many changes over the years.  In 1984, he transitioned from a super-villain who fought the Unknown and Detective Lebane, to an evil billionaire businessman whose goal was to turn his son, Powerkid, to his side.

And yes, in 1984, I came up with the idea of turning the evil mastermind into a rich businessman who uses his business as a front.  Yes, I did that.  Years before Byrne and Ostrander did the same to Luthor and Sivana.  But do I get credit for this?  (Perhaps, though, the Kingpin might be the first.)

From 1984 to 1989, Bossman Enterprises was a major part of Powerkid and Powerman, even when Bossman wasn't the main villain.  His presence was always there in the series.  But even beyond that, Bossman Enterprises has appeared or has been referenced in many Super Comics titles.  Because Bossman Enterprises is the tallest building in Orange City, and located in the exact center of the city, it frequently appears in any story occurring in Orange City.  (And most of the titles do take place in Orange City, or at least visit there at some point.)  Additionally, the mark of "MBE" (for Michael Bossman Enterprises) is often seen on all kinds of tech gadgets in various stories.

Today, the company is a significant part of most Super Comics titles, particularly Powerman, Super Team-Up, Powerkid, Super Team-Up Jr., Super-Trio, Justice, NighTforce, Bad Guys, and Heroes of Earth.

It should be noted that Bossman Enterprises has not appeared in any story that takes place in the future, not even ones in Orange City.  This doesn't necessarily mean that it's not there, but there is no evidence that it is.

Biography:


When Christopher Kowalsky, the hero who was known as Powerkid at the time and is now known as Powerman, was 11, he gained a little sister, Michelle Wrigley.  They thought they were half-siblings, with different fathers.  Years later, they would learn that their mother was not actually Chris' mother.


When Michelle was just a month old, the family was camping, and Michelle accidentally rolled into a pond.  As it turned out, the pond has been irradiated with the same energy that gave Chris his powers.  This has been no accident, but intentional on the part of the Great Unknown.  Chris immediately dove in after his sister, but the pond had given Michelle the same powers as Powerkid, including the advanced intelligence.  However, her powers were only activated in time of need.  When there was a danger that Powerkid couldn't handle alone, Michelle would turn into Super Baby.


As Super Baby, Michelle operated whenever needed, including during the Crisis on Infinite Earths where she helped maintain order during the unpredictable weather and merging of space and time.  Shortly after the Crisis, when she was just over a year old, her powers faded away.


When Michelle was two, she possessed by Satan, and Powerkid had to rely on the help of the Monster Squad to drive him out of her.


In 1991, when Michelle was seven, her brother was thought to be killed by Doctor Deadly.  Allorin Vonski found a way to transfer his powers to Michelle, but chose to transform her into a duplicate of Powerman (yes, turning her into an adult male) and wiping her memories.  Michelle operated as Powerman for a few months until Chris showed up alive and reclaimed his powers and title.  Michelle was reverted back to normal with no memories of her time as Powerman.


However, while Chris was thought dead, and Michelle was amnesiac, their mother lost her mind from the stress and hated super-heroes.  She went to Australia and blew up Heroes of Earth headquarters there.  She was found insane and committed to a mental hospital.


Shortly after this, Chris went off to college, and Michelle was left to be raised alone by her father.  Eventually, Walter fought a long and hard legal battle to have Maureen released into his custody.


A year after all this, Doctor Deadly met Doctor Doom, a villain from an alternate universe.  The two worked together to hatch a spell that banished all super-heroes to limbo.  Now a world without heroes, the super-villains were able to wreak havok.  Allorin Vonski used his powers to grant powers to several of Chris' friends, as well as Michelle, who regained her old powers, now permanently, and became Powerkid.


Eventually, the heroes managed to get back home and restore order, and Michelle continued to operate as Powerkid.  It should be noted that just like with Chris, when Michelle transformed into Powerkid, she aged physically, intellectually, and emotionally by some years.


Thus in 1994, though only 10 years old as Michelle, she was 15 as Powerkid, and started dating 18 year old super hero Zap, Master of Power.  Though at this time Powerman's identity was public, Michelle managed to keep hers secret, and chose not to tell Zap.  As Powerkid, she had feelings for Zap, and did not want him to know she was just a 10 year old kid.


Later in 1994, a being called the Nameless One came to Earth and did battle with Powerman, and both seemed to vaporize each other, but in reality they has both been teleported to opposite sides of the universe.  During his absence, Powerkid and NighTrain worked together to protect Orange City and deal with three fakers claiming to be the real Powerman.  Eventually Powerman returned, but so did the Nameless one, who kidnapped Chris and Michelle's parents.  Powerman left to rescue them, instructing Michelle that it was up to her to be Earth's champion in his absence.  


A year later, Powerman decided to leave Earth behind forever, and Powerkid officially became Earth's champion.  Shortly after, the mutant called Adam used his psychic powers to take over the Earth, establishing a new world order where mutants and metahumans ruled over normal humans.  He made the Heroes of Earth and Champions as his royal guard, and Powerkid and Zap were his personal bodyguards.  For three years, Powerkid served Adam, all the while trying to muster the willpower to send a psychic message of her own to Powerman, which finally reached him out in space.  He returned to Earth, and helped the heroes regain control and overthrow Adam, who Powerman had to kill.  Meanwhile, Adam's brother had gained the power of time travel, and was going back in time to kill every metahuman before they gained their powers.  Powerkid joined with the other heroes to stop him, and she was able to stop Timeline before he tried to kill Maureen Wrigley in 1984 while she was still pregnant with Michelle in the womb.  Timeline, too, was killed.


Following this, Allorin Vonski created a spell that removed all super powers from all super beings on Earth, except for a few who chose to leave Earth.  Michelle willingly gave up her powers.  


Now Michelle was 14, and the now powerless Zap, Keith Sheridan, was 20.  They tried to maintain their relationship, but the age difference strained things, as well another factor.  Michelle was fine living a normal life.  She began devoting herself to athletics and her studies.  But Keith began to resent having lost his powers, when for three years he was one of the most powerful men on the planet.  Now he was at college, and doing poorly.  Without the super heroics, Michelle and Keith found they had nothing in common, and eventually ended their relationship.


Four years later, Michelle turned 18 and went off to Worcester State College.  Now living in one of the most crime ridden cities in the world, Michelle got the hero itch again.  When she turned 21, she adopted the abandoned identity of Justice, and began patrolling the streets as a vigilante, becoming the only costumed hero of the time.


The next year, however, her brother returned to active duty as Powerman, and his son Connor became Powerkid.  This sparked the beginning of a new heroic age.


Early on in Michelle's new vigilante career, she encountered investigative journalist George Banner, who was trying to uncover Justice's identity.  Eventually, Michelle and George began dating, and he learned, but kept, her secret.  He even took up the costumed business himself, calling himself Truth.


In 2008, Michelle learned that her mother had terminal cancer.  She moved back to Orange City to live with and care for her mother.  This created a strain in her relationship with George.


Then the new Crisis hit, and Michelle as Justice had to participate.  At one point, she and Truth had to travel back in time to 1991, where they encountered Peter and Michelle Falkner, the Justice and Truth of that time. 


After the Crisis, Justice served with the newly reformed Heroes of Earths very briefly. 


At the end of 2008, Maureen Wrigley died, and Michelle could no longer operate at Justice.  But she was forced to don the costume one last time when her and several other heroes were brought against their will to a "battleworld" where they had to combat their greatest enemies.  Truth was killed during this great battle.  When the heroes finally returned, Michelle gave up heroics.


Michelle chose to stay in Orange City, in her childhood home, which she now owned.  Shortly after, her brother's father, billionaire Michael Bossman returned to a life of crime (he had been a reformed super villain).  There was a strange clause that left his company, Bossman Enterprises, and his entire fortune, property, and assets for Chris and Connor Kowalsky, Michelle Wrigley, and Connor's mother Yana Oo.  Connor was too young to control a company, and Chris was in hiding at the time (due to having killed President Bush while under mind control), and thus Michelle and Yana were suddenly in control of a multi-billion dollar company.


Now Michelle has abandoned heroics and runs Bossman Enterprises, though she does fund the operations of NighTforce and the Bad Guys, both heroic teams.  


In the year 2019, Michelle will again be operating as Justice, and will become a member of the Power Police.


Comments:


Michelle Wrigley was inspired by my sister, Michelle Wright.  The character was created by my step-father, Walter Wright, though he really just came up with the name (that had been previously used in silver age Superman stories.)  Walter was the Bob Kane to my Bill Finger, in that he came up with the name, and I came up with everything else since then.


Michelle/Super Baby was a supporting character in Powerkid from 1984 - 1988, and also appeared in the Crisis Within.  


She continued to be a supporting character in Powerman from 1988 to 1991.  Briefly, she became the feature character in Powerman during the summer of 1991, but reverted by to supporting status.


In 1991 to 1992, Michelle Wrigley was seen in the futuristic series Power Police 2019/2020.  This was the first time we learn that Michelle will become Justice at age 21 and will continue to operate as Justice in the years 2019 and 2020.


In 1994, Powerkid volume 2 was launched, featuring Michelle Wrigley, which ran until May 1995.  She next appeared in the four issue Timeline mini-series in 1998.


In 2005, Justice volume 2 was launched, again featuring Michelle Wrigley.  Though this series is still ongoing, Michelle stopped being the feature character in August 2010, when she passed the torch over to the new Justice, Holly Frost.  


Michelle remains a supporting cast member in Powerman, Powerkid, Justice, NighTforce, and the Bad Guys.

Even though the TVCU is different than the Wronskiverse, my crossovers for Ollu and Buzsla over there are also incorporated here.

So why is Dennis' work in?  In 2007, the Wronskiverse incorporated Win Scott Eckert's Crossover Chronology, which has now evolved into his book, Crossovers:  A Secret Chronology of the World.  Win included in his chronology Dennis' Immortal Befuddled.  Thus, that was also incorporated, which have me unauthorized, but self-proclaimed license to expand on Dennis' work.  I do so with the utmost respect to his original work as a fan.

Biography:

At the dawn of time, six cosmic beings were born, three of good, three of evil.  The being who would become known as the Great Unknown joined with his good brothers to battle his evil brothers.  However, they found themselves equal and chose to go their separate ways.

The Great Unknown first found a world called Heaven.  The race of this world, called Angels, worshiped the Great Unknown and made him their ruler.  This race became highly evolved over billions of years.  All was well, until one of the Great Unknown's brothers came to this world.  Calling himself Lucifer Morningstar, he corrupted Heaven, creating a civil war in a bid to rule.  However, the Great Unknown and his warriors were the greater force, and defeated the evil ones.

As punishment, the Great Unknown created a pocket dimension called Hell where he banished Lucifer and his minions.  These angels eventually evolved into demons.  Over time, Lucifer would find a way to turn the prison into a realm that he ruled.  He was able to leave anytime, as was his demons.  However, Lucifer found a way to capture the souls of Earth humans who were evil, and those who willingly trade their souls to him, each one giving him greater power.

Meanwhile, the Great Unknown to protect his angels, sent Heaven into it's own dimension.  Heaven also became home to human souls after death, but only those who wanted to go.

Around 51,000 years in the past, the Great Unknown came to Earth, where his two good brothers had already made a home.  At the request of Vonski, the Great Unknown became guard to the Sword of Power.

Around 1260 B.C., the Great Unknown is angered by the evil of humanity, but also sees the potential for good.  He chooses his first Champion of Earth in Moses, by giving him a mystical staff and advising him as he battled Ramses to free the slaves of Egypt.

This began a trend in which the Great Unknown would continue to create champions on Earth.  Not all of the champions have been chronicled as of yet, but we do know of some of them.

In 8 A.D., the Great Unknown chose an twelve year old boy in Israel who was the son of the angel Gabriel, who had raped a woman named Mary.  He granted him with amazing powers, but the boy named Jesus used his powers only is pacifistic ways.  He was killed in 33 A.D.  He could have saved himself but he refused to use his powers to harm others.

After this, the Great Unknown, saddened, left Earth, and settled on the planet Kookoorongba.  He would keep watching Earth and creating champions, but he also started manipulating events off of Earth.

On Kookoorongba, he started giving people of a heroic quality super-powers, turning them into the police force called the Powermen.  It was the people of Kookoorongba who named him the Great Unknown.  They worshiped him and allowed him to rule them.  He also created the Council, a group represented by various alien species.  This council then created the Interstellar Peace Organization, a police force composed of aliens from throughout the universe.

In the 6th century, in the kingdom of Camelot, the Great Unknown granted a knight with a mystical sword, turning him into the Purple Knight.

In the 17th century, a French Musketeer is also given a mystical sword, becoming the Scarlet Swordsman.

In the 19th century, another Frenchman became the second Scarlet Swordsman.

In the 1960s, the Universal Protectors became aware of a coming Crisis, in which the Universal Destroyers would take advantage.  And so the trio each decided to create their own champion out of the sons of three sisters.

The Great Unknown chose Christopher Kowalky, born in 1972.  His mother was Maureen Hasser, the middle sister.  Only this wasn't exactly true.  Christopher was actually born on the planet Hanguk.  His father was from Earth, a member of the Interstellar Peace Organization.  His mother was a native woman.  When the planet was invaded by Booer, the father took Chris to Earth.  He met Maureen and she married the space hero and raised the child as her own.  What nobody knew was that the Great Unknown had orchestrated the whole thing.

In 1979, when Chris was 6, the Great Unknown set things in motion.  He sent a ball of energy towards Earth which struck Chris, granting him amazing powers.  Chris would choose the name Superboy, but would go on to be called Super-Bob, Powerkid, and Powerman.

Just after this, the Great Unknown observed a man about to commit suicide.  He implanted an idea into his head, which inspired the man to not kill himself, but instead become the costumed vigilante called the Unknown.  (This implanted message also got bounced into the alternate reality of Earth-5, where the man's counterpart in that reality also received the message and also became the Unknown.)

The Great Unknown then sent Krazel, one of his best Powermen and IPO agents, to visit Chris and train him.

In 1983, Powerkid finally went to Kookoorongba  and visited the Great Unknown.  After this, the Great Unknown began communicating directly with Powerkid via mental telethapy.

At the end of 1988, Cronstar, a time travelling robot, hatched a plan that threatened to destroy reality.  Powerman joined with past Champions of Earth, to form the History's Heroes.  Though the heroes defeated Cronstar, it was not before there was a negative effect which caused the Great Unknown to survive only by merging with Powerman.  During a one year period, Chris maintained control of his body when normal, but when he became Powerman, the Great Unknown would take control.  Fortunately, after a year, the Great Unknown gained enough power back to leave Powerman's body and reform on his own.

After the separation, the Great Unknown stopped communicating with Powerman.  Recently, in 2008, Chris Kowalsky's son, Connor, who had become the new Powerkid, found he can communicate with the Great Unknown.  The Great Unknown revealed to Connor that he tries to communicate with Chris and also Chris' sister Michelle, who had also served as Powerkid in the 1990s, but they choose to ignore him.

During the Crisis of 2008 to 2009, the Great Unknown and his good brothers created a massive spell the resurrected many dead super-heroes and also restored the memories and powers of other heroes that had lost both from a spell cast by Allorin Vonski in 1998.

Currently the Great Unknown continues to guide Connor Kowalsy as the new Powerkid. Though there is no recored stories of the Great Unknown in the future, his legacy will continue on.  Powerman will live on as an immortal with the powers granted to him by Powerman at least into the 32nd century.  The council he created will still exist in the 31st century, running the United Federation of Planets (or United Planets) and the Star (or Space) Patrol.  The Interstellar Peace Organization will become the Star Patrol.  In the late 21st century, the IPO will create the Ticon Force.

Comments:

When I first created the Great Unknown in 1978, he was inspired by Orson from Mork and Mindy.  When Adventures on Other Worlds ended, the Great Unknown faded from my memory, until 1983.  In 1983, I reintroduced the Great Unknown and his connection to Krazy-El and Kookoorongba.  In 1985, in the History of the Super Universe, I created the mythology that explained his relationship to his cosmic brothers.

In 1988, my friend John Barstow started scripting and editing Powerman.  He decided to take the relationship between Powerman and the Great Unknown, and create a mini-series off of it called Past Imperfect.  This is when we were introduced to the concept of there being previous champions.  He also created the merging, which I was then left to try to write stories about.

After a year of writing stories of the Great Unknown as the main character, I think I got fed up with him.

I used him just once in 1992, in a story that revealed that the Great Unknown was God.

However, after that, I stopped using him for almost 20 years.  However, since the new Powerkid series is about nostalgia, it was only logical to make the Great Unknown a supporting character.

Real Name:  Born with no name, he has taken to naming himself various names over time, and other times has accepted the names placed upon him.  In his life he has been known as God, I Am, Allorin Vonski, Gandolph, McKormack, Shron, Merlin, the Stranger, Albus Dumbledore, Matthew Allen, the Phantom Stranger, the Watcher, the Ancient One, and the Monitor.

Biography:  


At the dawn of time, six cosmic being were born...three of good, three of evil.


The good and evil immediately formed into the Universal Protectors and Universal Destroyers and began a battle.  However, they were at a stalemate and all went their separate ways.  


During the war, a device had been created by the Destroyers called the Universal Transponder, a device so powerful it could destroy the universe, but it was captured by the Protectors.


After billions of years, one of the Universal Protectors, who would one day be called Allorin Vonski, settled on Earth, in Africa.  He helped create a paradise and invited humans to live there.  He also used this as a place to hide the Universal Transponder.  


When Vonski's evil brother Evil came in the form of a snake and tricked two of the humans, Adam and Eve, into helping him steal the Transponder.  Vonski was able to stop this from happening, but he was so upset he banished the humans from his paradise, moved the paradise across the world to where Orange City, Massachusetts currently exists, and changed his paradise into the Forbidden Forest.  


The Forest became an enchanted place that was a portal to various places in time, space and dimension, and a place that magic still existed even after it left most of the world.


This all happened around 52,000 BC.  Two thousand years later, Vonski's anger with humanity and the influence of his brother Evil had gotten to the point that he punished the Earth by creating a global flood.  


A thousand years later, Vonski was much more attached to humanity again, and the other creatures of Earth, especially the Elves and Hobbits.  At this time, around 49,000 BC, another of the evil brothers, Morgoth, had found Earth and was attempting to conquer it.  Vonski was known as a wizard at the time, and posed under three different personas.  Using these three identities, he helped man, elves, hobbits, and dwarves fight against Morgoth.  As Gandolph, he was part of the fellowship that was to bring a magical powerful ring to Mordor to be destroyed.  He was thought killed, but actually grew more powerful.  He then helped build the armies of man.  Meanwhile, he posed as McCormack, where he chose one boy to go on his own mission to Mordor.  He found this Bobbie, a librarian, and gave him the Sword of Power, a mystical sword of his own creation, to accomplish his quest.  Later, he would reappear to Bobbie, after his death and rebirth, as Shron.


After Morgoth was defeated, Vonski took the Elves, and hobbit Bilbo Baggins and brought them to the Forbidden Forest.


About 47,000 BC, Allorin Vonski first uses this name, as he becomes a scientist and sorcerer in Atlantis.


After that, Vonski stepped back and chose not to interfere, until around 1260 BC, when another of Vonski's brothers, this time a good one, came to Earth.  Unlike Vonski who had taken a human form, his brother had not taken a corporeal form.  This is the being we now call the Great Unknown.


The Great Unknown had taken an interest in human affairs.  While Vonski had taken the role of advisor and watcher, the Great Unknown felt the need to look for and create champions amongst the mortals to fight for good.  In this case, he looked at the situation of Egypt, of the oppressive evil ruler, and the people who were his slaves.  At first, Vonski chooses not to get involved, as this is human against human.  However, the Great Unknown felt that humanity needed a push, if the right one is chosen to push.


The Great Unknown chose a Jewish slave adopted as Egyptian royalty named Moses as his first ever Champion of Earth.  He drew the man to Mount Sinai, where he appeared as a flame and identified himself as "I am."  He told him it was his destiny and endowed the man with mystical abilities and guided him in his mission to free his people, even giving him a mystical staff.


It was only after Moses had freed his people that Vonski stepped in.  He saw that the Great Unknown's method worked, and wanted to help guide humanity, and gave to Moses ten commandments for which his people should follow.


The next recorded interaction with humanity for Vonski was in the 6th century in England.  A young boy named Arthur came across Vonski's Sword of Power, now called Excalibur, lodged in a stone.  Vonski had trapped it there, in his own attempt to find a chosen one.  Whoever pulled the sword out was to be Vonski's chosen one, and this young Arthur did so.


Vonski took the name Merlin to guide Arthur in his destiny of becoming king of Camelot.  


Next, during the 19th century, Vonski chose to become closer to humanity and joined the southern army during the American Civil War.  Following the war, he spent the next 35 years roaming the American Southwest as a gunfighting hero called the Stranger.


In the 1930s, in his attempt to better understand humanity, Vonski chose to turn himself into a baby, and age at a normal rate.  He chose Dracula and Aphrodite to raise him, so that he can learn of love and evil.  During that time, he is renamed Matthew Allen.  When he reaches adulthood, he regains his powers, and creates a business that will make him a billionaire.  Additionally, feeling bad for not being around during World War II, he takes on the identity of the Phantom Stranger.


In the 1960s, under his other identity as Albus Dumbledore, he takes over as headmaster of Hogwarts School for Magic.  His Forbidden Forest also connects to Hogwarts in England.  That same decade, the Fantastic Four learn of his existence as the Watcher, and as the Ancient One, Vonski trains Doctor Stephen Strange in the mystic arts.


In the late 1960s, the three Universal Protectors sensed their evil brothers were coming together, a time of crisis was impending.  Each decided to choose their own champion, and three sisters were to become the mothers of those champions.


One of those sisters was Colleen Hasser, who had married Shon Crest, the super-hero called the Speedster.  Colleen was pregnant with his child.  The Speedster was killed in battle with a foe, and Colleen then gave birth to his child, though she died in the process.  The child, also named Shon Crest, absorbed the memories of his father, though they would come to him slowly over time.


Vonski took Crest in and raised him as his son and trained him to master his super-speed and also to master mystic arts.


In the 1970s, Vonski has a relationship that produces a child, though Vonski did not stay in the child's life.  In fact, shortly after birth, the child was abducted by Darkseid's minions to be raised on Apokolips by Granny Goodness.  Darkseid figures the child of a cosmic being will be worth having.  Vonski learns of this, but does nothing.


In the early 1980s, Morgoth returned and attacked Earth.  Coincidentally, young Shon, now 18, had left home to make it on his own.  He fulfilled his destiny by becoming the heroic Speedy, joining with his cousins Powerkid and Zap as the Super-Trio.


Seeing this as the time of Crisis, Vonski began monitoring all heroes and villains and keeping files on all of them.  He began recording adventures of heroic stories.  And then, he decided to create a team of heroes from an alternate universe that Vonski labeled Earth-5.  He called them the Heroes of Earth.


The Heroes of Earth teamed up with the Powerkid Police to stop Morgoth from stealing the Universal Transponder again, during a greater Crisis on Infinite Earths.  The larger crisis involved a being from the Anti-Matter Universe who tried to destroy the positive matter universes.   Vonski and his teams joined with heroes from other universes to save reality.


Following the Crisis, his Heroes of Earth disbanded, but Vonski gathered together a new team of Heroes of Earth again to oppose Morgoth.  This one would become permanent, even setting up headquarters in Allen International (Vonki's billion dollar company) headquarters in Hadenville, OH.


In 1991, Vonski was able to expand the role of his team, establishing a relationship with the United Nations.  This was in response to the troubles affecting at the time the Justice League International.  Embassies were set up world wide, with the main headquarters moved to Canberra, Australia.  Taking a page from the All-Star Squadron of the 1940s, every hero on Earth was accepted as a member, thus truly becoming the Heroes of Earth.


Around this time, Vonski's biological son learned he had the power of teleportation and used it to escape from Apokolips.  He teleported onto the kitchen table of Joel and Mei-Lei Kent in Smallville, Kansas.  The Kents happened to be the parents of current Superman Sam Kent, and they called him up.  Superman ended up taking the lad to Metropolis where he became a father figure for the boy he renamed Bob Kent.


Eventually, Vonski and his son would meet, and Vonski would truthfully say that he had not cared about his son's fate.  Bob Kent, who had taken the hero name the Tele-Kid, felt rejected by his father, and by the heroic community, as neither the Justice League nor the Teen Titans had let him join them.  He left the universe for other realities.  When he returned he had only been gone a month, but for him it had been centuries.  He now called himself the Protector, and created his own super team called the Blackbirds.


Vonski continued to be the go to guy when the world or all reality was threatened.  However, he chose to let humanity usually fight for themselves and only assisted in guiding and pushing heroes in the right direction, and only fighting himself when the threat was something on his level.


That is why, in 1995, Allorin Vonski allowed Adam, a mutant, to take over the Earth.  (Also, Adam's powers included the ability to ward off and be immune to magic.)  But once the heroes had stopped him (three years later), Vonski only then stepped in under Powerman's request.  


Powerman felt the world would be better without super-heroes, and thus Allorin, who agreed, created a spell on a global scale that would remove all super-powers from all meta-humans, and erase the existence of super-heroes and super-villains from everyone's memories, except for a select few.


However, this spell was broken in 2007 when Powerman killed President Bush.  This brought back everyone's memories, and thus the powers.  Powerman had been one of the few spared, and had been in retirement and away.  But he returned and went crazy and evil.  Vonski stepped in when he felt his spell was gone, and soon discovered that Morgoth had possessed Powerman.  Vonski battled Morgoth to free Powerman.  


Recently, it's been revealed that Vonski is the Monitor of Earth-20 (which is the Wronskiverse aka Earth-B, renumbered after Infinite Crisis).


Vonski has recently had to create a spell that took the combined efforts of him, and his good brothers.  He revived all dead heroes, and enhanced everyone's powers.  This was in reaction to a similar spell created by their evil brothers.


Vonski recently faked his death at Hogwarts, and continues to run his corporation and lead a new version of the Heroes of Earth.


Comments:


When I created Allorin Vonski in 1983, he was just "Vonki".  He was just an anthology host for a horror anthology series.  He hosted stories featuring Vampire Man and the Creature Commandos.  In the Vonski segments, there were references and appearances showing that his parents were Dracula and Venus.


In 1984, I wanted to do my own "Crisis on Two Earths" story.  I already had the Powerkid Police of Earth-B as my version of the Justice League, so I just needed the other team.  I decided to create Earth-5, a world where heroes were all unpowered vigilantes or magic heroes.  This team was the Heroes of Earth, and Vonski was it's leader.  This was the first time we saw Vonski actually using real powers, rather than the tiny tricks he performed in his own series.  


During 1985's The Crisis Within, Vonski was shown to be the Earth-B version of the Monitor featured in Crisis on Infinite Earths.  We learn then that Vonski Presents, Super Files, and History of the Super Universe are all part of Vonski's keeping files on everyone and everything.  


In writing History of the Super Universe in 1985, I revealed the relationships of the Univeral Protectors and their origin, and how they were related to the Super-Trio.  When I created Speedy, I did not reveal (or even know) of his connection to Vonski.  Additionally, History revealed that Vonski was involved in Lord of the Rings.  When I created McCormack (who debuted the same month as Vonski) I hadn't planned on them being the same person, but it just turned out that way.


In 1986, Vonski became one of those go-to characters for time-space problems.  But once the Heroes of Earth was established, he was a regular on that series as leader up until 1992.


Then from 1993 to 1995, he went back to being a minor character who played a major role.  Then in 1995, he vanished.  In 1998, he showed up for the last issue of Timeline, then disappeared into obscurity until 2007, when I began my slow relaunch of Super Comics.  Vonski showed up for the return of Powerman/debut of Powerkid, and then went away again, until Crisis.  Now he is a regular member of the Heroes of Earth.


On the characters that I've merged him with.  The biblical/God stuff I came up with in 1991 - 1992 in Vonski Presents and Powerman.  The Harry Potter reference is a recent reveal in Heroes of Earth.  Merlin was mentioned in History of the Super Universe.  The Phantom Stranger role was mentioned again in 1991 - 1992.  His being the Watcher and Ancient One were revealed during Crisis.


About Vonski's personality.  Vonski is a lot like House.  He's a brilliant man who cares about humanity, and has amazing god-like powers.  In fact, he is one of two people who are worshiped as God.  He is very singular in purpose.  He feels that if something needs to be done, then he will do it, and he feels he shouldn't have to explain his actions.  He's very cold.  He's arrogant and rude.  And yet, he would sacrifice himself to save others if need be.


Note that Vonki's history doesn't sync with real history, nor does the biblical references truly match up with the bible, and his conflations with other characters don't work in their canon.  The Wronskiverse is not the real universe, or the main reality of characters like Dumbledore, so it doesn't matter.


Vonski's role in the TVCU is soon to diminish, but he will return, as a major player in the Wronskiverse in the future.
